Chris Smith is a certified Black Belt instructor under Charles Gracie. He is the first American to receive a Black Belt from Charles Gracie.
Mr. Smith is a highly devoted teacher and student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He brings to the table years of Martial Arts experience, and has a great group of people under him at his academy.

Shelley Morris, Program Director
Shelley Morris has been training in martial arts since 1998. Her career as a Core-Kickboxing Instructor started in 1999. She is the Program Director of Tiger Martial Arts.
She is currently working toward her Black Belt in Jiu Sool Do. She loves working with children & adults as well as providing private lessons.
Paul Meier started training Jiu-Sool-Do under Master Chris Smith in late 2003. He has had the opportunity to study with several different JSD teachers, as well as teach children’s classes himself, and was awarded his 1st degree Black Belt in late 2008. Shortly after beginning Jiu-Sool-Do, he also started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, also under Master Smith. He is an active competitor in BJJ, and has fought in tournaments such as the Pan American Championships, the US Open, Battle of the Bay and Rumble in the Redwoods. He currently holds a brown belt.
In 2005, Paul started training Inayan Eskrima under Pangulong Guro Jon Ward. In addition to his own training, Paul also teaches Inayan Eskrima under the guidance of Guro Ward. In 2007, and again in 2009, he travelled to Germany to participate in one of the largest Filipino Martial Art Summer Camps in the world. He currently holds his 4th Phase in the art of Inayan Eskrima.
Nick Attanasio started training in Taekwondo in 1996 in Aptos, CA. He received his black belt in 2002, and held consecutive titles as USTU California State Champion in 2001 and 2002. After seeing the impressive dominance of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in the UFC, Nick started studying under Master Chris Smith in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Jiu-Sool-Do. He was awarded a black belt in Jiu-Sool-Do in 2009 and began teaching at Tiger Martial Arts full time.
Nick graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Neuroscience with continued aspirations towards medical school. Under the guidance of Master Smith, Nick founded the Davis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy while studying in Davis. He currently holds the rank of 1st Dan in Taekwondo, 1st Dan in Jiu-Sool-Do, and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
